DokumentationThe German Economic Delegation from the Rhine-Neckar-Area visited Urumqi, Xinjiang July 16-21, 2011. Among the members of the delegation were the Lord-Mayor of the City of Heidelberg, Dr. Eckart Würzner, Dr. Martin Barth, German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Bernd Kappenstein, Metropolitan Region of Rhine-Neckar, as well as many other representatives from economy, education and research in the Rhine-Neckar Area. The delegation members, Chinese and German project partners and interested representatives from economy, education and research in Urumqi and Xinjiang participated in the conference sessions and field trips in Urumqi, Xinjiang on the various aspects of the sustainable development of megacities. Topics included energy efficiency, waste and water management, sustainable economic development, geographic information systems, environmental technologies, education and capacity building.
